Yesterday, staff at Draktsho's vocational training centre in Thimpu took delivery of a state of the art new minibus paid for by Opening Your Heart to Bhutan. The bus replaces a 13 year old model which was falling apart and lacked seat beats and other basic safety features.
The new bus will help students at the school travel to important physiotherapy appointments and help collect and return children residing up to 150 miles away from the school.
Taking delivery of the bus, Ani Pema Deki said "this bus will transform the lives of children at the school, making its vital service more accessible and safer for people using it."
The £18,000 needed for the bus was raised through donations from the Bhutan Society of Great Britain, Chesterfield Rotary and the Zintillis Family.
